REV. JAMES DOLINGER
There are two things I don't joke about that is God's Word and food. As much as I love to eat there is nothing that brings me greater joy than to spiritually feed others. The most important thing I believe for you to know about me is that God has called me to Gardendale Church of the Nazarene as Youth Pastor to serve you, your family, our community, and our Church family.
God has blessed me with the most amazing wife, Tara, who is my helpmate and bestfriend. Through Christ we have been happily married since August 14th 2010 and together continue to seek Christ where ever He leads us. We do have one dog named "Sierra" that is a Siberian Husky/German Shepherd with a gentle, loving personality. We keep her around mainly to prove to parents that we can take care of living things so they can trust us with their teens.
History and Calling
I was born and raised in Virginia near the DC area. My Parents now live in the Herndon, VA. I have an amazing sister, Amy, who travels the world and is now stationed in Nairobi, Africa. We were both blessed to be raised by our godly parents Phil and Vicki Dolinger as well as supported and encouraged by loving Church. I don't remember the date, but I do remember when I was around five years old telling my grandmother that Jesus Christ was my Lord. At the age of 18 at summer camp I felt God tugging at my heart. I remember it was at the end of a great service during worship, but I went outside and found a quiet place to be with the Lord. In that moment I knew God was calling me to something greater than I could possibly imagine. 1 Peter 1:14-16 "As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”" I knew He wanted me to completely surrender all and follow Him where ever He leads me. From there I accepted the call and He opened the doors for me to Trevecca Nazarene University. I have always had the passion, but as a licenced minister I have pastoring and counciling families for over 8 years. It is amazing how God knows the passion of our hearts and how Tara and I love it here. Not just because of the amazing food, but what God is doing here and allowing us to be a part of it.
